February | | | | | Congratulations! We survived the longest month of the year! I don't know why, but January feels like the longest month to me! Maybe it's because it's the start of the new year? People are trying their best to keep their resolutions going, trying to stay warm and waiting for longer days. Maybe that's what makes the month so long? I have found a way to help me deal with January and I think it revolves around a tropical vacation. As I write this newsletter, I am sitting by a pool in Cancun. This was definitely a week I needed to just unplug and relax! It has been such a good vacation that my husband and I have decided to do this every year in January. I love how it helps me to really reset for the year and go into February with a new mindset! If you remember, I had the goal to decrease my screen time. I was averaging 5 1/2 hour per day and I am happy to say that I am now down to 3 1/2 hours per day. I still have a little bit of work to do to get to my goal time of 2 hours per day, but I am getting closer! What has helped me is setting limits on the apps I use the most. This will definitely continue! The goal for February is to get all of our personal affairs in order. I am embarrassed to admit that I do not have a will in place at the age of 53. This literally keeps me awake at nights knowing that we do not have all of these things taken care of! If something were to happen to my husband or myself, it would be so bad for the other person! Or what if something happened to both of us and we didn't have a plan in place? I don't want my kids to have to deal with probate and all of the other things! I have committed to getting this done this month. My plan: Order NOKBox - have you heard about this company? NOKBox stands for Next of Kin and it contains everything you need to have your affairs in order. I have ordered the fireproof box for $169 and is it weird to say I am excited to dive into it? The NOKbox is a complete system that helps you organize your accounts, possessions, social media presence, personal information and estate plans. Inside each kit is 15 categories with a checklist of what you need to add to each category. It's time to get this process started and give myself and my husband peace of mind. If you are interested in the NOKbox check them out at www.thenokbox.com. |

| | While I was organizing my pantry a couple of weeks ago, I discovered how many supplements I have stockpiled in 2024. I feel like I have taken every supplement available! One supplement that I swear by and take daily is magnesium. There are so many benefits to taking magnesium including energy production, muscle/nerve function, blood pressure regulation and heart rhythm. The biggest benefit I see from taking magnesium is improving the quality of my sleep. I can definitely tell a difference when I take magnesium! You can get it in a couple of different forms such as gummies or liquid. I eat two magnesium gummies at 5 PM every night. Hello dreamland! |
| | I am obsessed with learning how to play the drums! I wouldn't say this is a new obsession, it is actually something I have wanted to learn how to do for a while now. I feel like it would be cathartic to take out some aggression on the drums and learn a new thing. I got an electronic drum set for Christmas and we are currently in the process of setting it up! I think this will be a good starting point and I can't wait to get started! I will watch some You Tube videos first, see what I can find there to learn the basics and then maybe find a teacher from there. Wish my husband luck! |
| | I have discovered that my morning routine is an absolute necessity in my life at this point. It's kind of crazy because I didn't have too much of a morning routine when the kids were younger and I don't think I could have handled one. With kids I had to be a little more relaxed and more focused on them. What I have discovered is that I crave a morning routine as I get older. I wake up, give myself 30 minutes on my phone (to get the juices flowing) and then put on my workout clothes. I feed the cats, workout, journal and meditate, while having my coffee and protein shake. I find that if this is not completed, I am kind of out of sorts for the day. Do you have a routine you follow? |
| | While I am writing this newsletter, I am sitting at a resort in Cancun, Mexico called Vidanta. This was my first time to Cancun and it did not disappoint! I am now in love with the Riviera Maya and it is so incredible. The resort has been amazing and we haven't left the property once! Usually when we go on vacation we like to explore a little bit. However, this was our first time to the area and we both weren't up for the tours which is why this resort is perfect. Our biggest question of the day has been beach or pool? And which of the 10+ resturants do we want to eat dinner at? We want to explore more of Mexico and have already started planning our next trip! |
| | How do you feel about the nautical theme? Do you know it's making a comeback? I kind of like the trend! When I think of nautical clothing, I think of navy or red stripes, brass buttons and a fisherman's sweater. If you are into this trend, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Don't dress in head to toe stripes. I like to take a navy and white striped sweater and pair it with some white pants, or cropped jeans and some cute sneakers. I also love the trend of themed sweaters. I have seen some cute ones lately with crabs or little fish on the front. All of these items look great with some white shorts and espadrilles too! |
| | Protein shakes...I have a love/hate relationship with them! I just discovered a bunch of Shakeology protein pouches (when I did my cupboard cleanout) and I can't just throw them away! I decided I will drink one every morning after my workout and let me tell you, there are definitely flavors I do NOT LIKE!! In order to get through these so I don't feel wasteful, I have been putting a scoop of peanut butter powder in my shakes. It actually isn't too bad that way! And it gives me a little more protein. I bought a brand at Costco called PB Fit. Add one scoop to your shake and it's actually drinkable! |
