May | | | | | Brings May flowersHello Sunshine! I don't what it is, but I love the month of May! It could be because of Cinco de Mayo, my wedding anniversary (May the Fourth be with you) or just the start of nicer weather. I also love planting flowers and creating a beautiful space on my deck to hang out on during the warm summer months. This month we are focusing on the yard and getting things cleaned up. We have so many projects going on at the moment that this is one activity that slips between the cracks. I really want to have one of those beautiful yards, but I also need to have the time to do it. With having a full time job, one boutique open and trying to open another, yard work is not high on my list! Hopefully, I can get caught up so I don't feel so overwhelmed every time I look at my yard or go outside. In any event, I will take the small wins and continue to enjoy what I have completed. | membership benefitsWhat you get when you sign up for a membership: Monthly meetings that are fun and educational First to know for retreats and activities Monthly book club Lifestyle workshops Monthly newsletter Membership spotlight Priority and discounted events 15% monthly discount at Swank Boutique dayNetworking New friends! | Upcoming eventsMay 8th - Skin Care As We Age We have something amazing happening this month! We are welcoming Kileigh from Back Bar Skin Care to talk to us about skin and how to take care of it as we age. Additionally, Kyleigh is going to bring all of the necessary products for us to make our own little facial kit. For every attendee, she will also over a BOGO on her facials. If you haven't received a facial from Kileigh, you are not going to want to miss out on this event!! Tickets available here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/skin-care-as-we-age-tickets-1344287282449?aff=oddtdtcreator | | | | | May GoalWoo hoo!!! Thanks to you and me wanting to be accountable, I have finished setting up NOKbox! As I was unpacking it, I started to feel overwhelmed due to all of the folders and the information that I needed to provide. I have decided to take it one folder at a time with the goal of having all folders completed by the end of the month. I will need some help from my husband, but should be able to do most of it by myself. There is a ton of information, however, if something happens to one of us, the other person will be able to easily find all of the information they need. My other goal for May is to have our will completed. I found an online company called Trust & Will where I can complete the necessary documents. I took a quiz on their website (trustandwill.com) which helped determine what would work best for us. I am not excited to do this process, however, I know it needs to be done. I don't want to leave a mess for someone else to clean up. Thank you for holding me accountable! | <!--

| | I am a die hard Peloton rider and am on my bike at least five days per week! Recently, I have taken a deep dive into rebounding. I ordered a mini trampoline and I am in love with adding this form of exercise to my routine! The benefits of rebounding are numerous including to strengthen and cleanse your cells. using three factors: gravity, acceleration and deceleration. These three forces combine to squeeze out toxins from the cells at the bottom of the bounce. At the top of the bounce, pressure is decreased and your lymph can flow upwards. Plus, it helps make bones denser, low impact on the joints and is great for weight loss! |
| | I have a healthy obsession with planting flowers in the Spring. I call it a healthy obsession, others may call it something else. I love planting every type of flower in my pots and watching them grow over the summer. I love spending as much time as I can on my deck during the warmer months surrounded by all of my beautiful flowers and seeing what they attract! It usually takes me a week to pot the plants and I think at this point, I am up to 30 different pots! That may be where the unhealthy part of this obsession comes in.... |
| | Taking the time to just sit and breathe...or I guess meditate has become a major part of my day. When I feel that I am starting to become frazzeled, I stop what I am doing, close by eyes and take five deep breathes. If this doesn't work, I repeat the process and just try to center myself. There are so many things happening in the world today that can make us feel anxious and when I find myself focusing on some of these things, I literally just stop and breathe. Life is too short to be anxious about things you have no control over. I will not allow anxiety to rule my life. I hope you take some time to be present and enjoy every single moment. |
| | | | I am so excited about this style trend...brooches! Yes baby, they are back! I love brooches and have quite the collection thanks to my Grandma Lee and Aunt Darlene. I remember, as a kid, they would always have one (or several) on and I was fascinated with them. I think it was because they were so sparkly. You know your girl loves ALL things sparkly! You can wear this trend so many different ways. I like to take three brooches and pin them to a denim jacket or blazer. They also look good on hats, bags and scarves. I think it would be so much fun to go to an antique or thrift store and see what kind of brooches I can find. Don't miss out on this fun little trend! |
| | Oh you guys, Crumbl Cookie is doing me dirty! I am in love with these cookies and now that I have discovered they are on Uber Eats, my waist (and ass) are in some serious danger! I may have also bought the little tool that cuts the cookies into fourths. I feel less bad about eating them if I am only eating a fourth of a cookie. Also, they are pretty rich which keeps me from eating too many at once! It also motivates me to work out and get my steps in so I don't feel so guilty about indulging in these delicious treats. What is your favorite flavor?? |
